Booking my first class at Unite in Fitness was seamless, with a prompt confirmation email. I chose the Wednesday 7pm Boxercise class with Andreas at Bush Hill Park.
Upon arrival, Andreas, the boxing instructor, greeted me warmly, easing my nerves. Despite the England vs. Netherlands Semi-Final match, the class was packed with enthusiastic participants, mostly women in their late 20s up to late 60s and one gentleman!
I chose this class to relieve stress and tension that I have been experiencing lately. After picking out our boxing gloves and pads, we began with a warm-up, followed by partner sparring exercises. I was paired with another newcomer who had heard about the class from a Zumba friend, and we helped each other through each routine.
We performed various boxercise routines, including jabs, hooks, and uppercuts. Andreas kept the energy high, motivating us, and offering corrections and praise. He was very accommodating, offering alternative exercises after I mentioned my osteoarthritis. The routines were fun and exhausting, and I could feel my body being pushed.
By the end, I was sweaty, energised, and happy. The next class, Yoga with Coby, had a full roster of smiling participants, creating a lovely vibe that tempted me to try it out. Iām also considering Zumba and Kangoo.
Everyone rushed off, including myself, to catch the start of the game ā a brilliant match to watch, ending with a 2-1 win for England!
